Loot return %:  63.99

An absolutely crappy month. Loot has never been as bad as this month. It seems Lootius has favoured the Migration participants on Calypso. Migration should be over within 1-2 months though.

Notes
Expenses refers to anything but repairs.
Income refers to anything but selling sweat.
Loot includes globals.

Gotta love intuition when it works

Intuition has never really worked for me. I pick a mob to swunt or hunt and more often than not I make a loss. Not a big one, but still a loss. Sometimes I make a loss on TT value but make a small profit when adding Mark-up on items, so I’m usually not complaining. Swunting gallards have for the most part proven to be one of the better mobs to go after – until recently. The last 4 hunts resulted in a massive loss even though I didn’t change my approach at all. I sweat them and then kill them with my S.I Psy-blade. Yet my return was 60% TT on average and roughly 70% with MU. So I got irritated and went on a monura male killing spree. That mob has almost always meant a profit one way or another. I killed 227 of them bugs. What did I get for it? 66% TT value returned. 71% with MU. That is so not cool.

So what to do?

Swunting and hunting was out of the question. What else is there for me to do? Crafting, mining and selling items. Mining is a major gamble to me. I know too little to actually make something of it. Selling my items is something I’d like to do but I have so little patience for standing still shouting out my offers in hopes that someone want what I have. So for some odd reason I chose to craft – without any Blueprint Comprehension whatsoever.

40 PED worth of nano cubes and I started crafting explosive projectiles. 2000 clicks minimum…
Lots of people got E.P globals. Some as high as 4 digit return.

Did I get any global? No…
I did improve my skills and my blueprint though. But no globals.

Yesterday I took my gear and headed to Courageous Firebase Academy. It’s cold as crap up north in the snow but I managed. The rage I felt when constantly being hit by caraboks kept me warm. I still killed 117 of them using my trusted S.I Psy-Blade. What did I get for the trouble? 59 bloody percent TT value. Nearly 63% adding MU.

FUCK ME!

So I have stopped hunting – for now.

That leaves me with one more thing to work on. Selling my items. I may not have the patience to stand around and shout out my offers but I almost always pay attention to the official trade communications channel while mob killing.
Yesterday I decided to be more pro-active. I had a look at auction offers to get an idea of what sells and what doesn’t, and came across the blueprint section. I have plenty of blueprints, some of them with limited use, and the majority have some MU to consider. So I started shouting. …and shouting…and shouting. No interest whatsoever. I even contacted a person that I noticed was bidding on a blueprint in hopes s/he would be interested in mine too. No response. So I gave up after hours of trying. I sorted out my stuff, had a last look through my storage inventory and called it night.

But then I got that feeling… The one that tells you you should try one more time. It rarely happens but it did. So I connected to the trade channel again to try sell my blueprints. Instead I found a buyer of animal oil residue at 101% MU. Small profit but still a profit. So I contacted the buyer and said I had 15000 units, thinking s/he would buy a small amount. The buyer wanted them all. I was shocked. Then I had a look at the actual value of my stock and was baffled. 150,5 PED. I had no idea. The stuff has been in my storage for so long I forgot about its value. Sure, the profit was only 50 PEC, but it was a massive sale to me. Now I just need to keep up my sales activity and not go on a spending spree.

Not as passive as it may seem

Didn’t realize I haven’t posted in almost a month. Well, not much to post. When I have been active I’ve only hunted Oratan Prospector Thieves and done some resource gathering. One of the thieves held a global of 10 PED, but it was still an over all loss. I’m not going to hunt any thieves this month.

What I have done though is get a sneak peek at someone’s statistics and how they keep track of their hunting on all planets. So… I applied some of it to my own statistics and have begun to keep track of each and every mob more closely. The data is automatically calculated into two different tables for better overview. One table displays over all data for each Arkadian mob (haven’t hunted on any other planet since I started the new tracking system) and the other table displays the total data for each planet (again, only Arkadia).
So far I’ve added data from Oratan Prospector Thieves, Arkadian Hornet, Gallard and Carabok. I have Jori and Monura Male/Female left. These are the mobs I can hunt with ease.

I hunted Arkadian Hornet yesterday and today. They have been horrible in terms of loot in the past. They were yesterday too – up until the very last hornet that dropped enough stuff to make me profit by 2.59 PED (without MU; 4.77 with MU). Today that profit was lost. Well, not all of it but I did lose. I finished Mission Stage 2 and decided to never hunt hornets again. Then again, I said that a few months ago and look where I’m at…

Sales have been okay I guess. I caved and put some stuff on auction for reasonable MU and the majority sold. Not sure what to do with the Socket I Components. They just won’t sell. I have more than 50 PED in TT value.
Speaking of trades. I bought a Terratech PH-3 a while back. I haven’t used it because I’m not skilled enough yet. I also just found 4(!!) Terratech PH-2 on auction. I bought 1 of them, so now when I’m out looking for trees to harvest I can theoretically get all three types of moonleaf boards. I will only use the PH-2 and PH-3 on medium and large trees. Anything else would be uneco!

Time to try out this new tool!

Kill 5000 Monura Female & Male

I started hunting Monura Males, a large baby blue bug, in March 2015. The initial plan was to ‘swunt’ them but after some tests I realized it would take far too much time to finish the 5 mission types for each of the genders if I extracted their sweat too and not just kill them. It is ideal to ‘swunt’ all Monuras, especially the females, because the income from Vibrant Sweat will for the most part cover any loss from weapon decay. But having made the solid decision to ‘swunt’ two other creatures (Carabok and Gallard) throughout all of the 5 missions I just couldn’t make the same commitment to the Monuras. Not without going mental anyway!

The first thing I did was conduct weapon tests to see which of the weapons I had suited best. I tested S.I Psy-Blade, S.I Combat Knife, Herman PF-TT (L) and MANTA K-TT (L) – 2 types of Power Fists and 2 types of Shortblades.

My initial tests were concluded in early May. The Herman PF-TT (L) worked best for males and the S.I Psy-Blade worked best for females. The average outcome of decay was 0,048 PED (males) and 0,050 PED (females) weapon decay per kill. Despite these results I chose to use S.I Psy-Blade for both genders.
The tests also showed that females were less inclined to eat random non-edible items like weapons and resources, things that a hunter would find after a kill. In other words, it would cost more to kill females than males, and I could use the profit from the males to fund the hunt on females.

I was well into the 3d mission in June when the IFN announced that the Trophy Heads a hunter gets after finishing Mission 4 would finally be available for finishing the appropriate missions for both Monuras, as well as Pandi and Dromia. This is where my luck – and 48 hours of fame – kicked in. I finished the 4th male mission and as I was going to the nearest IFN terminal to collect my reward it blared out a fanfare and a message on the screen to announce that I was the first colonist to discover the male trophy head. Utterly baffled I (greedily) wallowed in the praise from other colonists. At this point no one had claimed the female trophy.

I made a conscious decision to try and be the first to claim that title too. After much hard work and little rest I succeeded. On 16th June 2015 I discovered the male trophy, and two days later I discovered the female Trophy head.
